The Different Aspects Of Funeral Services

The demise of a loved one is a heartbreaking experience, and preparing for their funeral can be very painful. Yet you have to accept your loss and try making necessary arrangements for the funeral service so that the visitors to share your grief. You can get the help you need in making the preparations from any good funeral home, but you must bear a few things in mind before proceeding.

A funeral is an expression of how one lived his life and it must be planned accordingly. A majority of funeral services follow a particular pattern, though the pattern can change to accommodate any cultural inclinations that the dead person may have had or his family members believe in.

The first stage is the visitation, which can happen over a few hours or could extend for a few days. In this ceremony, the friends and family gather to revive memories of their loved one. This is followed by the formal funeral service, which may be held in the chapel of the mortuary, or a church of your choice, or even at any other location which the deceased person had an attachment for. However, you should ensure that you have hired a funeral coach, if the venue of the funeral is at some distance.

After this service, the gatherers usually proceed to the cemetery to participate in the graveside service. You can either opt for this to be handled by a family member or by a clergyman. You will need to consider many aspects, including who will lead the service, the type of flowers you want, and if you want a photo or any other article owned by the deceased to be exhibited.

The final part of the proceedings is the burial of the body at a site, which is usually based on the type of tradition that the family has. The dead person can be buried in family plots or in mausoleums, or be cremated and have their ashes scattered where they had desired.

Funeral Rites And Rituals

Funerals across the world are marked by a lot of rites and rituals. Funeral is a service in which family and relatives pray for the dead and settle with the fate of the loss of their loved one.

Church rules regulate the funeral rites in Christian communities. However, given the fact that there are more than 200 denominations of Christians, the traditions can vary according to the particular allegiance of the family.

The first most important ritual in a Christian funeral is the wake, which is conducted before the real funeral service and where the deceased is watched the whole night and psalms are recited to pray for the departed soul. As per the present day customs, this is when the family and acquaintances pay a last visit to the dead person and offer their final respects. The body is preserved and kept either inside a Church or at the house, and the time of visit is specified. In old times, the wake was succeeded by absolution, which involved absolving the deceased of all his or her sins in the present life, and laying a cross on the chest and performing the ritual of offertory where visitors put gifts in the casket.

Then comes the real ceremony itself, where the deceased is first carried to the Church in a vehicle and prayers from the Holy Bible are said and prayers are sung in the church. Following this, the priest asks a family member or a friend to offer a eulogy before the burial. Some of the communities follow this by a ritual of tolling of the bells, signifying the end of the service. Following the funeral proceedings, the casket is taken to the burial place where before burying there is a burial service conducted.

Finally, the family members arrange for a lunch for the friends, relatives and acquaintances who are attending the funeral. The main purpose of this tradition is to partake in the sorrow of the family and support them so that they can come to terms with the loss.

How the Numbers Add Up For Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

I heard this morning that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, has cancer.

Abdul-Jabbar received his diagnosis, a rare form of leukemia, last December. Quite a few numbers were activated for him during that time.

His age in December 2008 was 61 - and that number ties in directly to his Day of Birth on the 16th.

In 2008 he was in a Personal Year of 21/3. This cycle activated one of the other important numbers in his Personal Numerology Blueprint - Abdul-Jabbar’s 111/3 Destiny.

By the way, 111/3 Destiny is a very powerful triple digit Master Number. He shares it with the Ayatollah Khomeini and Henry Kissinger. Kareem’s 111 Destiny is derived from his birth name, ‘Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor’.

Notice how his 111 Destiny Number is forever tied to a record he still holds. His 1,111 defensive rebounds remain the NBA single-season record, even after 34 years.

I’m glad he changed his name to ‘Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.’ It adds up to the Immortality Number, 17/8 indicating he will leave a legacy behind. Of course with Kareem that’s an understatement.

Contrast his current name number to the name ‘Ferdinand Alcindor’ - adding up to the number 16, the same as his Day of Birth on the 16th. Though initially this number helped him rise to the top, it also could have easily resulted in a ‘fall from a high place’ at some point in this career, due to injury or other factors, if he had kept using it.

Speaking of number 16/7, I want Kareem to be extra vigilant in the year 2011. It’s a 16 Personal Year for him. He will need extra rest and timeouts that year.

Kareem’s Psychic Number is also very fitting - he has an 8. Notice that his powerful 17/8 current name ‘Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’ is directly connected to his Psychic Number.

An 8 Psychic Number means he receives his intuitive or psychic flashes while leading others and overcoming hurdles. 8 is very connected to high-powered athletes who reach success by surviving and rising above challenges every day of their lives.

So Kareem’s Psychic Number 8 indicates he feels invigorated and intuitively connected when there are challenges he can confront while being in a leadership position.

Once you know your own Psychic Number, you understand how your intuition is most easily activated. This knowledge is priceless, especially now.

Every person has intuitive gifts. Be sure you tap into your powerful sixth sense.
