Xball matches which are played professionally last 50 minutes, comprising of two halves, whereas Amateur Xball games are played for shorter periods.

Generally played in fairly open areas with man made structures or bunkers providing cover Rec style paintball is more free form than other types. Number of players can vary extensively in rec style paintball, it can be small at times and during re-enactment games it can go into hundreds.
